From Cash-Flow Strain to Strategic Growth: Cosby Heating & Cooling’s ACCA Business Mastercard Success

Before the Card
Overcoming Financial Challenges
Cosby Heating & Cooling, a family-owned HVACR business based in Ohio, has been a vital part of its community since its founding in 1982. When Paul Eddy and his wife Barb purchased the business in 2008, they faced significant challenges, especially during the economic downturn.
“Managing the finances was probably one of the more difficult things for us for a period of time,” Paul explained. “If you don’t make the right business decisions, the money dries up pretty darn quick. When that happens, people don’t want to loan you any money. You need to be going in the right direction for them to want to help.”
Among their biggest hurdles was cash flow, which was often strained by customers taking extended payment terms. “We couldn’t do that—we couldn’t bill everybody and wait 30 days for our money. You can’t be a bank. There’s no way to grow if you don’t have capital or access to capital,” Paul said.
The Turning point
Overcoming Financial Challenges
Paul first learned about the ACCA Business Mastercard through an email. As a long-time ACCA member, he trusted their endorsement of the card. “I’ve been a member since I’ve been in business. ACCA’s name carries weight—they wouldn’t put their members in a bad position,” he noted.
When he applied for the card, its features stood out immediately. “It gives us access to some capital,” Paul shared, highlighting the cashback rewards and virtual card functionality as key benefits. “The platform itself is nice because it’s simple and intuitive. You can get what you need quickly and be done.”
After The card
Driving Business Growth
With the ACCA Business Mastercard, Paul has been able to make strategic decisions to grow Cosby Heating & Cooling. “We’ve been able to grow back to the size we were to begin with and even past that,” Paul shared. The card has also provided the flexibility to take on new opportunities. “If somebody came to me with an opportunity today, I could pretty much take care of it now. Before, if you didn’t have access to capital, you’d be left behind.
”Paul also appreciates the cashback feature, which has had a direct impact on their bottom line. “Right now, it’s really been the cashback part of it that’s the biggest benefit. Two percent adds up quickly—it’s a lot of money."
Paul’s Advice to Other HVACR Businesses
For other HVACR companies considering the card, Paul’s recommendation is clear: “With the cashback and all the benefits, it’s a no-brainer. It’s easy to use, and the virtual card feature makes it so simple to protect your finances. To me, it’s just a smart decision.”
